Matches

Matches are open to members of Reddish Angling Club only. Participants must be in possession of a valid membership card in order to participate.

Notice of the dates, times and costs will be posted on The Clubs web site, the notice board and will be announced at the general meetings by the Match Secretary.

Tuesday evening matches (summer league). Dates as per the published match list.

Sunday matches (summer season). There will be between 4 and 6 Sunday matches held on Jacksons pond. There will also be 6-8 away matches.  Dates as per the published match list.

Winter league The winter league will take place on alternate Sundays from mid October until mid March. Dates as per the published match list.

Notice of the dates, times and costs will be posted on The Clubs web site, the notice board and will be announced at the general meetings.

Access

For matches held on Jacksons pond pegs numbered 1-6 will be reserved for pleasure anglers. For Tuesday night matches pleasure anglers must vacate pegs (other than 1-6) by 4pm.

Bookings & fees

The Match Secretary will hold a list of members who wish to book onto the away matches.  Members can book onto a match by contacting the Match Secretary by phone, text, email or in person (contact details as per the club website)

Any member booking onto an away match then finding themselves unable to attend must inform the Match Secretary no later than the Wednesday before the match in order for him to try and fill the pegs.  Should the Match Secretary be unable to fill any places where notification is received after the Wednesday, the cancelling member will still be required to pay the peg fee.

Failure to inform the Match Secretary of non-attendance will result in the member being liable for their peg fee.

No member will be permitted to book onto a match if they have unpaid peg fees from any previous match.

A £ 1 match fee will be charged at all matches. This is a contribution from the match section towards the costs of the presentation evening.

Fishery Rules

Matches are subject to the rules of the fishery that we are visiting. Any member found to be in breach of these rules will not have their catch weighed.

Copies of the rules for each venue will be available on application from the Match Secretary before the date of the match. The rules pertaining to individual venues will be available to view at the fishery on the day of the match.

Failure to have read the rules is not a plausible excuse.

It is the responsibility of individual members to ensure that they are aware of the rules regarding the number of nets required and weight restrictions in place. Also it is advised that they take notice of any bait bans or limits to the amount and type of bait allowed.

Pegs (Jacksons Pond)

All pegs will be eligible for the draw unless (except 1-6)there is a clearly justifiable reason that makes a peg is unfishable (ie unsafe banking, fallen tree and according to the constructional rule book etc). It will be solely the Match Secretary's decision whether a peg should be removed from the draw.

Any angler found to have left litter on their peg at the end of a match will be excluded from the results.

Drawing of pegs

The drawing of pegs will take place at the advertised time; late arrivals may draw from the remaining pegs at the Match Secretary's descretion. It is permissible for an angler who knows they are going to arrive late, to contact the Match Secretary and request that a peg be drawn for them. In which case the Match Secretary will draw that person(s) peg FIRST.

Pools

There are no pools to be run by any committee member, the club will not be a part of any dispute of pools.

Weighing in

The member drawing the lowest peg number will be obliged to carry out or assist the Match Secretary in conducting the weigh in at the end of the match unless otherwise directed by the Match Secretary. Any member who does not comply will not be allowed to weigh in their own catch.

Silvers matches

In "silvers" matches ANY carp that weigh over 1lb will be counted as weighing 1lb. This includes crucian, F1,F2, goldfish, koi etc.

Carp Matches

In matches where carp are retained anglers must use a separate net for carp and silver fish.

Miscellany

Sensible feeder or ledger type fishing is permitted, within the confines of your own peg / swim, during matches on Jacksons Pond.

At the end of a match when the "all out" is called, a participant being in the process of playing a fish must shout "fisherie  on". They shall then be permitted a maximum of 30 minutes to play the fish. If the fish is not landed within that time it will not be weighed.

In the event of any match ruling not specifically covered by the club rules, the Match Secretary's decision is final.o
